Mark of the Mole was the first album in a series telling a story about conflicts between two cultures; The Moles lived in a subterranean society who believed in salvation through hard labor and the Chubs who lived above ground in a hedonistic culture.

The Tunes of Two Cities was part two of the Mole Trilogy. The records concept is to display the differences between the two cultures through their music. The music of Chubs is light cocktail music and the Moles lean towards industrial religious hymns.

The Big Bubble fleshed out more backstory and the 3rd, 4th, and 5th albums were never released. In this album the focus is on a band within the Mole culture and are at the forefront of the 'Zenkinite movement' which is a culture of crossbreeds between the Moles and the Chubs. The band breaks the law by singing in the new language, which has been banned.
