What Really Turns Us On?

"What is desire? It's a streetcar in New Orleans. It's a Bob Dylan album, and a Marlene Dietrich movie. It's the title of 13 songs by, among others, U2 and Geri Halliwell. It's the name of a brand of dark chocolates. And it's the cause of endless trouble between men and women." -- Article from Belfast Telegraph

The article just highlighted that now most Valentine's Day symbols have been copyrighted, trademarked or patented. That's wrong. Very, very wrong.

Tomorrow starts The Pirate Bay trial. I have a lot of respect for the integrity of what they are doing. There has to be a country that realizes what an economic boom it would be if they adopted reforms.

Just imagine these:

Cell phones, DVD and mp3 players that weren't crippled and patches for software to work  ...

Or "green" technology so things lasted longer than a year (beyond the warranty) or had replaceable parts ...

Not being able to disable functions with an "upgrade" ...

Wow. Can I get anymore anti-corporate than 'give the customer what they want'?
