Finger Exercise: Cell Phone v. Keyboard

Yesterday, the Senate APPROVED S3325  bill to strengthen copyright laws - and is on a fast track to become law. What this law does is give DOJ authority to bring civil suits against infringers using our TAX DOLLARS. Has anyone ever heard of federal deficit outside of healthcare? Of course there's more to it (none of it good).

Recording Industry v. The People has a very informative website. Wired has a 5 year wrap-up, where industry admits the lawsuits are largely a publicity campaign.

"It's an enormous gift of federal resources to large copyright owners with no demonstration that the copyright owners are having difficulties enforcing their own rights", as stated by a joint letter opposing the measure.

Not only have they had no difficulties issuing letters, but ZeroPaid has an article about their new automated piracy identification and settlement system about to be implemented.

You can help take action at Cause Caller.

This isn't just about music. This week  a secret trade agreement was made concerning intellectual property rights. It may not matter who we elect. Even if your not from the U.S. I believe you have a right to say something about copyrights and intellectual property the way U.S. tends to push their policies on the rest of the world.

Here's a quote on independent label growth. "80 percent of the world's music releases come not from the majors but from independent labels."
