We're Late For Class

We're Late For Class is an improv/ambient/space/fusion/electronic/art-rock type band that's posted their music on line (yes, for free) that's very well done (320mps). "The Jim Morrison Seance Tapes" have been posted for this week.  I recommend checking out "Caravan Psoriasis, part 1", from their "Iraq Opera" with less ambient-space sound for more art-rock sound. Rather than using genre to explain them, this is the stuff to crank-up volume for headphones or doing tedious work and making the world's worries, including time, seem to evaporate. It's more than escapism because music like this helps me to concentrate by screening out life's white noise, yet it has to be interesting enough to hold my gnat-like attention span. That's not an easy balance to find. Think Porcupine Tree+Thievery Corp+Negativland.

I can't say too much more about We're Late For Class because I've just discovered them myself.  What I can say is that I've gone back for more at a time when I'm rationing hd space because it's full (again). But I think passing the word on about these little hidden discoveries is not only more genuine than following MySpace bot hits, but holds the future direction for music.

The added bonus is their cd covers are just as great when the trend has been towards degrading cover artwork. That makes for a nice professional package. It seems ironic that We're Late For Class has chosen to sell their t-shirts online rather than their cd's. I think the Morrison cover could make an awesome t.

    IMI,
Great idea and done deal. MANY thanks for the extra thoughts and cool words (and making space on your crowded hd). We REALLY appreciate it around here.
