Bitter Blood Street Theatre
There are some days it doesn't seem worthwhile to have a music blog. I thought Bitter Blood was rare and planned on posting it but Mutant Sounds beat me to it. MS did a good job finding out more background and some of the comments linked to additional material, including an interview calling them "the founders of theatrical fringe progrock". So even without knowing that genre existed it says that Bitter Blood was not just another nostalgic artifact of that time. They helped pioneer a unique direction in music (including playing the saw) that has merit today. All of their music is out of print, difficult to locate and worth hearing.
Another description of Bitter Blood Street Theatre would be seriously good, original 70's psychedelic rock with jazz-like elements. They are in there with the likes of Jefferson Airplane, Traffic, Cream, Country Joe, and 13th Floor Elevators.

I played in a band called Wizzard that opened for Bitter Blood Street Theatre at The University of Dayton,in Dayton Ohio Oct 1971-1972 maybe...we were a local band.
We played our set and then Bitter Blood Street came out and just blew us away! The freaky part was the GUY WITH THE BEGAL DOG HEAD ON A STICK!...THIS ACT WAS JUST WAY BEYOND ANYTHING ANY OF US KIDS EVER SEEN OR HERD BEFORE!...Long Live Bitter Blood Street Theatre.
