Oil and War

"It boggles the mind that when George Bush took the oath of office in 2000, the price of a gallon of gas was $1.60. All I’m saying is, George Bush is an oil man. The price of gas has almost tripled since he took the oath of office. I’m not saying there’s a conspiracy there. But if Colonel Sanders were elected president, and the price of chicken tripled in the last six years? I think there might be a problem." -- Tomas Young

With the ongoing disaster in the Gulf of Mexico, I found myself revisiting "The Body of War" since many of the songs mention the connection between oil and war. If your not familiar with this compilation, it was put together by a disabled veteran (Tomas Young) after he had returned from Iraq, and went on to inspire a documentary by the same name. The tracklist is excellent, heartfelt, timely and not to be missed. Here's one of many interviews with Young.
