Grobschnitt

Grobschnitt was Germany's most successful progressive rock band. For some reason they never made the hop over to the US even though their early albums were sung in english. Globschnitt was unlike any other because of their humorous, theatrical live shows. Yes, it's possible to have serious prog that's also funny, but I can't think of anyone else that's done it.

Rockpommel's Land is Grobschnitt's most commercially successful album. It's concept involves a bored boy taken away to a land where he encounters a dead city and brings the inhabitants back to life, i.e. German Gong. The music has been compared to Yes or Genesis.

I'm also posting the largely instrumental album, Solar Music Live since it shows a different side to Grobschnitt. This album rates next to Pink Floyd in the Hall of Fame of music for getting lost into. I suggest buying the CD because you'll want to hear it on headphones with a good stereo for a long time. This is an essential album.
