Quirky

I've been spending time over at Quirky lately. Let me explain how the site works. It's possible to submit an original idea for $99, have it tweaked and rated by other members (free membership), until it becomes a final product for sale. Members that contribute ideas / suggestions also can get a percentage of the sales - but only for the one product selected each week (also by members) so competition can be fierce. However even if your idea isn't selected, the feedback can be invaluable.

In this economy, I bet there's a lot of people with ideas, skills and time to put into a project like Quirky.

It's a novel concept (social product development). Already there are a number of unique "quirky" products available. Here's a video of the founder, Ben Kaufman, talking about how Quirky got started.
